About the RescuePledge.Org

Somewhere, there’s a doe-eyed Labrador or a lanky bloodhound curled up in the corner of a barren cage. He’s waiting for a meal that will only come when some kind soul donates food to the shelter he calls home. He longs to sink his teeth into a tasty chew-toy, one he’ll only get when a dog with a better life has cast it aside.

He needs food. He needs toys. He needs medical supplies. But what he needs more than anything right now is a chance. A chance to find his forever home. A chance to prove he can be a great companion.

A chance he may never get.

Millions of animals enter shelters in the United States every year. Most of them are eventually put down.

Shelter animals are frequently passed over in favor of purebred prize dogs or pet-store puppies. Many people see shelters as disease-ridden penitentiaries that peddle sickly or psychologically broken animals.

We’re here to change that.

We designed the Rescue Shelters Pledge to spread awareness on behalf of the animals that really need your love. We’re not out to chastise or cast judgment on families that covet specific breeds; rather, our goal is to show the world how fulfilling the shelter adoption experience can be, to change the awful stigmas attached to shelter animals, and to empower animal lovers everywhere to fight against harmful pet distribution practices.
