“Being a veterinarian is more than just a job for me. I have known since a young child that this was my calling in life. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor’s in Animal Science in 1998. After which, I attended vet school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received my doctorate in 2004. At the Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research in Berlin, Germany, I completed a PhD in Biomedical Technology and an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship.
I have worked with a wide variety of animals including rhinoceroses and elephants; through which, I have gained an immense amount of experience in gaining the trust of even the wildest animals, in order to perform thorough examinations and treatments. Gaining the trust of my patients also reduces their stress and makes for a more pleasant and productive experience.
I am not only a vet but a proud mother of four. Annabelle is a lab mix (14 yrs old) and the last of my dogs. Alex is a Maine coon (11 yrs old) whom I have had since he could fit in the palm of my hand. Luke, a domestic shorthair (10 yrs old), is the newest addition to the family and a Katrina rescue. Chances is a 22 yr old Tennessee Walking Horse and the oldest member of the family. He has been with me for 17 years.
As a veterinarian in New York City, I understand the difficultly and hassel of getting to and from a clinic. It is not only stressful for you but for your pet as well. This is why I chose to offer the convenient alternative of providing house calls to my clients.
