Where Did You Find Your Dog?

We found Zoli at a last chance shelter in northern Indiana. He had been duct taped inside a tiny cardboard box and left on the steps in December where he sat for 2 days- covered in urine and left to die. He was a full grown male Vizsla who should have weighed 70 lbs but only weighted 28. He had been beaten, whipped and starved and was terrified of men.We picked him up the day after he was found.

Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.

Immediately after picking Zoli up, we took him to our vet. Despite everything he had been through, he sat in my lap and let our vet examine him. From the beginning, he was gentle and grateful for every bit of love he could find. Zoli now ”rescues” the wounded and chewed up stuffed toys from his brother Georgie (and those from the cat)- he puts them in his crate and gives each of them a bath every night- and every night after he has his supper, he gently picks them up and brings them for a walk all around the house. He defends his ”family” and always knows if one is missing….searching for them all over the house until he finds them. When Zoli got his beautiful new blue collar, we put new blue collars on all of his rescued toys as well.

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

Zoli has taught us that forgiveness and nurturing are things that can, and should be shared-and that no matter what misfortune you face, never, ever, give up being kind.
