Where Did You Find Your Dog?

I first saw Martin’s picture on the shelter’s website and couldn’t wait to meet him. We went the very next day to meet him and I fell in love instantly. He had been living in the shelter for 5 months with no offers for adoption. I couldn’t believe that someone hadnt adopted him yet… He was perfect! And he was ours.

Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.

The ability to trust humans after being abandoned and alone is one reason why I admire Martin (and others like him) so much. When we first brought Martin home from the shelter, he was so scared that he had multiple accidents in the house. Over the next few months, he began to trust us and transformed from a scared, unsure stray dog left abandoned in a shelter to a confident, loving part of our family that slobbers on the floor when you say the word “treat” and hogs the covers in bed. He’s made road trips to Louisiana and moved across the country with us all within the last year.

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

This sweet little lab/pit mix has taught me that second chances are a gift, and not giving second chances could mean that we may be missing out on something amazing. My rescue dog has taught me to always maintain hope and a positive outlook, even in the most difficult situations.

About Project Blue Collar:
Project Blue Collar (PBC) is a global grassroots movement and passion brand dedicated to promoting dog adoption. PBC is striving to tell a different story about rescue dogs – not one of pity and sadness, but one that celebrates the joy and love that comes from welcoming a rescue dog into your family. Their goal is simple: To elevate the status of rescue dogs as prized pets and inspire more people to adopt.
PBC’s signature Support the Underdog® Blue Collar is the symbol of the movement. Taking the concept of the rubber cause wristband and making it into an accessory dog collar, this symbol gets conversations going and lets dogs be the marketers of the movement. The Support the Underdog® Blue Collar gives people a way to show their “rescue pride” and tell their dog’s story. Even dogs who weren’t adopted can join the movement to show their support for rescue dogs.
To date, PBC has “Blue Collared” dogs in 11 countries and in all 50 U.S. states. PBC donates a portion of their sales to rescue groups to support their lifesaving work. Visit www.projectbluecollar.com to learn more.
